Englewood Elementary School Art Logo Finalists.. this Thursday, April 3rd!

logo winner designPlease plan to join us as Englewood Elementary School will be having thirty-five 4th and 5th graders at the Englewood Farmers Market this Thursday as part of our second art logo contest! The EFM committee picked 35 finalists out of all the art work submitted by Dawn Hinck’s EES art students. The committee then selected the top 5 winners. The first place winner’s art has been used to produce aprons and T-shirts that will be sold at the market. All profits go to Englewood Elementary. We will have the art from the thirty-five finalists displayed at the market and the art showing will then move to the Elsie Quirk Library for display over the next 3-4 weeks. We plan to announce the top five winners and of course the first place award winning art work while the kids are visiting the market between 9:30 and 10:30 AM. This is going to be a really fun event and we all hope you can attend!

Englewood Farmer’s Market Logo Contest

When it comes to creative ideas some of the biggest come from some of the smallest…people. Creative ideas are not new to Englewood. Since November of 2011 a very creative venue known as the Englewood Farmer’s Market has created a huge buzz in our community. In a very short period of time the market has grown from 15 vendors to 43 vendors and has the notoriety of being one of the best and most creative on the South West coast of Florida.

veggie-heads-pumpkinSo when the Farmer’s Market committee decided to have a contest for a new logo to be used on some of our special promotional items for this next season starting in October they immediately thought of the creative minds that occupy the halls of Englewood Elementary School.

Mr. Lee Perron, the Englewood Farmer’s Market manager contacted the Principal of Englewood Elementary and asked if their 4th and 5th graders would like to take part in a logo design contest that would use the Englewood Farmer’s Market as the design criteria. The best and most creative logo design from these future artists using farm produce or a food theme from the market will be chosen this April and then used on a number of items at the market this October when it reopens.

The students know this is a special opportunity to both show their art skills and show the people of Sarasota and Charlotte Counties that Englewood is truly a special place. The 4th and 5th graders have taken this contest to heart and it is believed the Englewood Farmer’s Market committee may have to judge over 140 entries. A task they are looking forward to with great anticipation.

The entries will be judged during the week of April 1st with the winner being announced at the April 12th Farmer’s Market. Besides having their art work become part of the Farmer’s Market logo themes the young artisan will win ( along with his or her parents) a large basket full of goodies from all the market vendors including produce, baked goods, cup cakes, pastry, kettle corn (maybe two bags), popsicles, fudge, and some seafood and special meats for Mom and Dad.

All of the finalist’s entries will be posted on our website at: www.englewoodfarmersmarket.org for the public to view. In addition, the winning entry along with all of the finalists entries will be on display at the Elsie Quirk Public Library for two weeks following the announcement of the winner. Comments from the community on the various entries are encouraged.

The market vendors love to get involved with the local schools, so a number of them donated a variety of plants and herbs for all five grade levels at Englewood Elementary. Each grade now has their own little garden to show off to the community. The vendors will tell you that Englewood and the Farmer’s Market hold a special place in their hearts.

The Englewood community has been extremely supportive of the market and we invite them to come down to the market on Thursday, April 12th to meet the logo contest winner. A photograph of the winner along with their entry will be posted on both our website and Englewood Farmer’s Market Facebook page.
